Confronting The Payoffs For Illness: The Hidden Reasons Why Some People DON’T Heal

What are some of those payoffs that could be standing healing? Does not everyone really want to get well? Why would someone willingly choose to remain sick? Why do some people heal, while others do not?

People who are unable to express their thoughts and emotions actually create an internal biochemistry that supports disease. But why would anyone choose to be sick? Are there justifiable reasons for being sick?

There are many benefits or 'payoffs' for being sick. Some people use illness if they are unable to get their needs met, if they are unable to ask for attention, affection, recognition or love.

It's now proven by science that every good feeling thinking releases good feeling neurotransmitters, where as negative emotions create havoc on your immune system. The toxicity increases exponentially when those emotions are suppressed, repressed or denied. Our body literally communicates what we are not able to verbalize.

Many people have associated self-expression with trauma. They may have been bullied for speaking their truth when they were young. Their opinions may have been ignored, disregarded, or belittled. A care giver may have harshly reprimanded them for expressing their needs. They may have been humiliated at school for speaking up.

These are common examples of childhood trauma that some adults still carry around and replay internally. The painful memories of their attempts of self-expression are too distressing. So by the time these children become adults they are shut down and do not have the ability or confidence to verbalize how they really feel.

Too many children were raised in families where communication was non-existent, or violent and abusive. They lack role models who exemplified loving communication and true expression of their individuality. They were not shown patience or encouragement. Some children witnessed emotional abuse which even as adults, they still are unable to recognize. So they repeat a pattern of suppression, suppression and denial.

Do you possibly remember when you were a child and you were scared to go to school and unable to express to your mother how you felt so you developed a stomach ache? If the stomach ache got serious enough your mum would be very worried and you would stay home. She would fuss over you, make you special soup and you got to stay in bed all day watching your favorite cartoon.This is a good example of how we may unconsciously associate sickness with a positive reward.

As an adult you may be in a relationship where the communication between you and your partner is poor and you feel deprived emotionally or physically. You are unable to express your needs and feel angry at the lack of attention you are receiving. If you develop an illness your partner will suddenly care for you, give you the attention you craved and your illness creates an opportunity for your partner to show his care for you. For your price of physical suffering you get the emotional and physical requirement you craved.

There are many other examples of how the payoffs for being sick can make healing impossible. Some people can feel a sense of specialness and cling defensively to being labeled as having a particular illness.

They may have had this illness for a long time and it's now created a firm identity, a point of every conversation, a sense of exclusivity. They may even have formed wonderful friendships by attending support groups where they bonded with like-minded others and received the empathy that they dreaded craved.

Without this identity they would lose their sense of established self-worth. Their whole personality, every interaction, and reason to socialize is dependent on this identity they have claimed as 'theirs'.

So by clinging to their identity with this illness, even tho it may be physically painful, emotionally it could be nurturing and create a sense of belonging that they would not feel otherwise.

Some people create illness to punish their loved one. This can occur when one partner has been unfaithful and the other is unable to express their anger, rage, sense of betrayal and broken heartedness. So their suppressed emotions are expressed as physical pain.The payoff of seeing their partner being very concerned is reassurance that they are really sorry and still really care about them.

Other payoffs of illness could include special considerations at work or a good reason for quitting a job that was unbearable. It's socially more acceptable to politically state a justifiable reason such as an illness to quit rather than express genuine negative feelings as the real reason.

Unfortunately some people with extremely low self-esteem are really unable to express honestly how they really feel and what they really need to be able to heal. The pain of honest conversation is too great, and out of fear they settle for tolerating physical symptoms.

Most people are not ready to take full self-responsibility because it's just easier to blame and continue being a victim. Taking full responsibility would mean making drastic changes and for most of us, the fear of change is too great.

Some people feel that they have justified reasons to suffer because illness creates an opportunity for others to listen intentionally and for them to tell their story again and again. This, in an odd way can be perceived as healing for them. This is how they get recognition, compassion and are able to express their negative emotions verbally.

Emotions are 'energy-in-motion'. Thus emotions are meant to move through us and not remain stuck, unexpressed. For this is a recipe for illness. We are not meant to stay wounded. Emotions are indicators which are meant to guide us.

The mind-body connection is undeniable. Science can now prove that our thoughts and emotions create a biochemistry in our body that either creates health or illness.

Some common links include, back issues representing not being supported in life. For some people having a long-standing back issue will attract support from their partner or family.

Breast cysts and lumps represent an a refusal to nourish the Self, putting everyone else else needs first, and over mothering. A woman not having the self-confidence to ask for nourishment herself or feeling unworthy of accepting care can create physical issues within the breasts. Thus she will have to nurture herself to get ease of her breast discomfort.

Ear issues represent an ability to hear or not wanting to hear something. Going deaf can seem like an acceptable payoff for someone tolerating a long-term verbally abusive relationship and not having the courage to speak up.

It becomes evident that the body is an instrument through which our souls speaks. We can either choose to verbally express our emotions or our body will speak for us eventually.

For some people the unrecognized or denied payoffs for illness are a greater reward than healing itself.

The ability to heal relatives solely on the courage to speak our truth, first to ourselves and then to others. It requires a scrupulous and disciplined self honesty. They say awareness is the first step towards creating change.

Being aware that there possibly may be some benefit to an illness we have or someone else has, is an enlightening perspective to entertain.

If we can recognize that every illness is an opportunity to learn it then becomes easier to not be attached to an income we may view as successful. We can gain unclouded insight and offer no judgment.

Sometimes in our preventing and acceptance of what is that we create a safe space for healing to occur.

Does It Really Take More Muscles to Frown Than to Smile?

Some sayings have been with us so long that their origins are now wholly forgotten. Popular aphorisms such as “It takes 43 muscles to frown and only 17 to smile” claiming that a greater number of facial muscles are needed to produce a frown than to generate a smile are one such snippet of homespun wisdom; they have been a part of our cultural landscape for so long that no one now knows where it all began.

While there are no scientific basis for such claims (technically you need 12 muscles to do a true smile and 11 to frown – see below – but even those numbers are arguable), such say says to convey a very important message: smiling makes us feel happier. It is not a cure-all for every situation (that is, do not look to it to remedy overwhelming grief), but in terms of getting us past a small dose of the blues, it can help to lift the sense of sadness being experienced.

Research on smiling

In a 2002 study performed in Sweden, researchers confirmed what our greatmothers already knew: that people respond in kind to the facial expressions they encounter. Test subjects were shown photos of faces – some smiling and some frowning – and required to respond with their own smiles, frowns, and non-expressions as directed by those conducting the experiment. Researchers noted that while folks had an easy time frowning at what appeared to be frowning at them and smiling in reply to the photographed smiles, those being tested encountered difficulties when prompted to respond in an opposite manner to the expressions displayed in the images – they instinctively wanted to reflect what they had been exposed to, answering smile for smile and frown for frown, and could not easily overtake this urge even when they were quite consciously trying to.

Because we humans are wired to essentially respond like for like, facial expressions are contagious. When taken, the homily's demanded advice to put on a happy face does work to benefit society in that smiling people cause those around them to smile.

Yet smiling is not just good for the community in which the sad sack or grouch lives; it is also beneficial to the person doing the grinning. Facial expressions do not merely signal what one feels but actually contribute to that feeling. If we smile even when we do not feel like it, our mood will elevate ourselves. Likewise, making a frown brings on a sense of not much liking the world that day.

Indeed, this cart-before-the-horse effect has been studied and measured by numerous researchers. It has demonstrated that subjects who produced facial expressions of fear, anger, sadness, or disgust manifested the same bodily reactions that experiencing bouts of the actual emotions would have provoked (eg, increased heart rate, elevated skin temperature, and sweating). Likewise, in studies of test subjects who were required to smile compared to those who were not, those instructed to force smiles onto their faces reported feeling happier than their non-grinning counterparts did. In both cases despite test subjects knew they were acting, their bodies did not, and so their bodies responded accordingly. At least in this chapter of the saga of the mind against the body, the body won.

So what's stopping you?

1) You're physically uncomfortable. You can not sit cross-legged. You can not sit still. You can not just do anything in a culture where busyness and activity are prized above all. And being silent for a while makes you feel guilty that you're not getting stuff done.

First, there's no requirement to sit cross-legged, or even to sit still. If you're going to sit, people recommend that you choose a posture that is upright and alert so you maintain focus. When your mind wanders-and it will-notice your thoughts, but do not judge yourself for not staying on course. Gently bring your thoughts back to your breath or your mantra and quiet your mind.

3) You do not have enough time. There are not enough hours in the day already. You can not add one more thing to your to-do list. And yes, you have too much to accomplish, so something that does not yield immediate, concrete results is out.

I have a friend who, when she starts meditating, begins to think of things she forgot to do and immediately jumps up to do them. At least meditation helps her remember her obligations! But give yourself time to be still. Put your to-do list on a shelf in your mind so you can retrieve it after you meditate.

And if finding time to meditate stresses you out, think how less sooner to stress you'll be after you've had a chance to meditate over time. Just start being still for five minutes a day, every day. Think about it-five minutes is possible for even the busiest person. To be still in the moment. To touch your authentic self. To stop doing busy things and just be. You owe it to yourself to give it a try.

The Fitness App Explosion: For Better or For Worse

Back when I first started losing weight, we did not have fancy-schmancy apps.

We wrote down what we ate on cave walls. You could not figure out the carbs or proteins in a Wooly Mammoth by looking it up on the internet. No sirreee Bob! Kids today have it too easy.

Okay, maybe a slight exaggeration, but one of the more significant changes in health monitoring is the explosion of fitness apps of every stripe. As of last year, there were more than 45,000 fitness-related apps in the app store, giving one the ability to monitor how far he walks and with what intensity, calories consumed and burned, even heartbeat and sleep patterns, all from the convenience of code in your phone.

This trend is in its infancy. In the not too distant future, we will look at Fitbits and other wearable trackers in the same manner as we would observe a woman wearing a bustle today. Tomorrow's apps will be woven into our garments, creating smart clothing and “wearable tech.” At any moment, one can be aware of everything from blood pressure to the amount of salt in her sweat.

Having that type of data available 24/7 will provide countless benefits. Included in the “fitness app space” is “Passion.” Designed to assist one in improving those intimate moments with his or her significant other, it rates your technique on a one-to-ten scale. To do so, it informs you when to start and stop again, and can even compares one's rating to others. Although the concept might be a bit titillating, I can not imagine pillow talk such as, “Honey, I'm in the mood. Can you start the app?” I'm assuming they have a companion app observing the couple called “Creepy.”

Finally, while on the subject of “creeps,” there's the Amazing Girlfriend Manager, which proclaims that one can, “improve your relationships with your girlfriends by applying the concepts of a customer relationship management system.” Yep, what woman does not just tingle down to her toes when she finds out that she's being rated on a one-to-ten scale? “Ooooh Baby, being a three so makes me want you.”

Beyond that, this app keeps track of gifts given so one does not repeat. It reminds important dates, and – I assure you this is a quote from the app's page – “through the analysis of ratings and costs of dates and gifts, you can keep only the girls with the best cost-benefit.”

Again, seriously, the app provides a warning: “For your own safety, do not let your girlfriend access the application.” I suppose the result of such actions would be one would need to find an app on how to handle those lonely, all-by-yourself evenings that would surely follow.

Quick Exercise For Sugar Cravings

In today's post, I want to talk about something I get asked about very often, which is how to deal with sugar cravings. As you know, my approach around this subject is based on spirituality, consciousness and evolution, and therefore, is very different from what other experts suggest. So let us begin …

First of all, let's talk about the root cause behind our food cravings and addictions. If we think about it, addictions come from self-abandonment and the reliance on outside approval. When we are constantly looking for external approval of ourselves, we are abandoning our One Self. When we abandon our One Self feel missing, and it is then when we start craving for substances that we believe will fill out that sense of lack.

It is not so much a craving for sweetness that you are looking to fill yourself with, but it is a craving for the abandonment of your own self-love what you are really looking for. You are always the one who gives to yourself-whether love, abundant resources, opportunities, respect, compassion, etc. And as you wake up to this realization, life is then about discovering how to support yourself and how to live a life that will cause a full expression of your being into the world.

As the One Life awakens in you, then your relationship to food is no longer about need, but about pure delight and self-discovery. Your sugar cravings will be about discovering those sweet tones within you and expressing them fully. Then, if you decide to reach for a sweet food, it will not be out of neediness, but out of pure delight and full self-awareness. In time, the cravings will dissolve and no longer be an issue.

As you remember that all is within, you will heal those desires through fully prescribing life and feeling the resonance within you with all that you engage in. Everything is fluidly changeable when you are willing to be in non-resistance to life, and when you understand that everything will change in your outer reality when you sing the sweet notes that have been stifled in you.

So today, I am sharing a quick exercise that reflects these insights. You can do this exercise whenever you feel the urge to reach for a sweet treat that is replacing that sense of inner-sweetness:

1) Tune into the feeling of the craving in your body, and ask for support to heal it.

2) Taste the sugary substance with your imagination. What does it stimulate in you, how does it make you feel?

3) Now imagine the sweet smell of fragrant flowers flowing into you … smell the toxicsating sweetness, and imagine drinking that up as a sweet syrupy nectar.

4) Now imagine a scene of sweetness, whatever that means for you (a beautiful blue sky, a gentle touch, smiles, beauty in nature, colors). Feel the sweetness of it … feel it radiating in the air, and breathe that sweetness in through every pore of your body. Feel your body as you do this.

5) Imagine the texture of sweetness, and feel it on your skin and let that feeling ripple through your whole body.

6) Connect briefly to the root, sacral, solar plexus chakras and imagine the sweetness frequencies being absorbed into them. Feel soothed and cared for …

7) Tune into the feeling of consuming sugary foods … what does that numb in you? Now rather than a numbing, bringing in a feeling of awakening. Ask for support to dissolve any painful memories, to wash these away from your body, and to dissolve the craving from all levels of being.

8) Feel love emanating from YOU to YOU ​​and give yourself a hug!

Repeat this exercise as often as possible and I promise you'll start to feel that sweetness and love within you. Be patient and know that this too will pass! Are you ready to get started? Vancouver is a “dog-friendly” city, so there's no shortage of canines on the seawall, however, they have their own lane and despite Vancouverites love dogs, they have a very short fuse for dogs which exhibit violent tendencies. Even muzzled dogs, should act aggressively, their owners will no doubt receive their share of public disdain.

The Vancouver lifestyle is well understood by Vancouverites, it's talked about, bragged about, written about, and blogged about. Vancouver is a fitness town, many of its inmates are marathon runners and few are smokers. Lighting up a cigarette on a public street is accepted because it's legal, but doing so will often get you stares and people taking a wide berth around you to avoid your smoke. Those who smoke in Vancouver are well aware of the culture, and have grown a thick skin and learned to laugh it off, since there's no fighting it.

This culture makes up Vancouver's identity, and that identity is engrained in the mindset of every Vancouverite through local newsletters and blogs, which are very popular with Vancouverites. Your Wellness Prescription

The vast majority of the workshops I am asked to conduct through Canada and the USA have to do with humor and wellness. It is quite obvious to me that a huge number of people in education, business, the professions and in private life are unwell and want to do something to improve the situation.

There was a survey done here in Canada within the past year, the results of which were interesting. There was an overwhelming consensus, among those surveyed, that stress was the leading cause of their unwellness. When polled as to the source of their stress 14 percent said, their children, 22 percent said, finances and 45 percent indicated, their work. What was more disturbing was the fact that 10 percent of those surveyed admitted to considering doing physical harm to their supervisors. 25 percent of respondents agreed that stress is having a serious negative impact on their sex life.

When you analyze the results of this survey with an awareness of the fact that depression, anxiety, worry and fear are plaguing people everywhere we see a serious need for wellness.

Let me briefly outline the basics of wellness for you with the encouragement to commit yourself to creating your own individual program. The important word here is commitment. Do it and stick to it!

* Humor: Learn to laugh … A LOT! The physical and psycho-social benefits of laughter are clear. Live better, laugh more. Laughter, if not the best medicine, is certainly very good medicine.

Attitude: Behavior is attitude in action. Positive attitudes result in positive behavior while negative attitudes result in negative behavior. When you change your attitude, you can change your life. Develop positive attitudes and you begin to live in the brilliance of the healthy emotions they produce.

* Relaxation: Learn the restorative art of positive relaxation. Make time each day to rest your mind and body completely for, at least, 20 minutes. You can relax sitting in a chair or lying down. Just do it. You begin by closing your eyes and taking three, deep, slow breaths. As your exhale feel and visualize your body and mind letting go and peace and tranquility rushing in and dwelling within you.

* Exercise: Get moving, physically. Start by going for a walk. Gradually increase the time, distance and speed of your walk. I like the old saying, “In the morning work awhile. In the afternoon rest awhile and after dinner walk a mile? Walking has been called nature's tranquillizer for good reason. Great things happen when we go for a walk. may want to include other exercises. This is fine, providing you check it out with your family doctor first.

* Diet: People in North America today are overfed, undernourished and overweight. We consume far too much sugar, fat, and empty carbohydrates. When you combine this with increased stress and lack of exercise it becomes clear why we are not well. Something as simple as cutting down on non-nourishing foods and increasing the amount of fresh fruit and vegetables we consume can be a good first step towards wellness. At present, I am trying to eat three nourishing meals a day and that's it. If I do get the urge for a snack I am trying to make it fruit. Notice I use the word trying. When I fail I do not beat myself up, I just start trying all over again. It is important to be moving in the direction. of wellness.

In your entire wellness program remember that it is not perfection that we are trying to achieve, its improvement. We do not want to become so fixated on wellness that our quest for wellness becomes a health problem. “There is nothing more dangerous to your health than the fear of losing it.” MM

Good Health Is Related To Healthy Relationships

Many health gurus focus on one aspect of health and call it the “key” to health. Maybe it's diet, exercise, detox, breathing, a positive attitude, or meditation. We can all agree that all those things do contribute to a healthy lifestyle, but the Roseto Effect may be the most important one of all.

What is the Roseto Effect?

In the 1960s, a group of Italian immigrants settled in Roseto, PA. As they were shunned by their English and Welsh neighbors, they created a close-knit isolated community that maintained their traditional customs. The men smoked and drank alcohol with abandon. They did backbreaking work in the quarries. Unable to afford olive oil from their homeland, the women used lard for cooking and ate foods that would make a cardiologist cringe. Yet, despite what we would call an “unhealthy lifestyle,” they had half the rate of heart attacks as the rest of the country. In addition, they had no crime and few public assistance recipients. Why?

What researchers found was that the key ingredient to health was community. Feeling safe in your role in the community, having warm caring people around, staying connected to the elderly, having a stable routine, and feeling supported are better predictors of longevity and happiness than low cholesterol or whether or not you smoke. It seems that food and adrenaline are not the only ways to nourish and stimulate the mind and body. Healthy relationships nourish people.

If you want to add another dimension to your health regimen, here are some changes you can make now.

Get unplugged. Have dedicated hours or days when you commit to not using the internet at all.

Get face time. Communicate face to face as much as possible with those you care about and want to have a close relationship with. Forget the phone call. Forget email. Sit down and look at each other.

Share the laughter. When you have something funny or good happen in your life, share it.

Give support. If you have time or talent to share, give it to someone who will appreciate it. Start with your own family. If they are not nearby, check out a charity. They are always looking for volunteers.

Ask for help. Americans are so conditioned to be self-starters and achievers that we can forget to ask for help. Allow others to be there for you. Relationships are about give and take.

Eat dinner at a table with someone what you care about. How many times do we eat at our desks, on the road, or alone in front of the television? Stop! That is the behavior of a Human Doing, not a Human Being. Do you want to live life or just get through it?

Pursue productivity rather than material success. Those who feel useful experience a greater sense of control, are more resilient, and feel more satisfied with life than those who do not have that. This does not mean you can not have both. It's a matter of focus.

Share your Self. How many times have we heard that a crowd is the loneliest place? Being social is not about just being in the presence of others. It's about sharing your authentic self. When you are seen, heard, understood, and accepted, you blossom.

Be mindful. Part of what creates loneliness and separation is when you are not present. Stop thinking of what you should say next. Stop thinking about what you need to do later. Stop thinking about what happened last week. Just be where you are now.

Accept others nonjudgmentally. If you want to be accepted as you are, you have to be willing to do the same for others.

My Birthday of No Time + What I Ate to Celebrate

I celebrated my birthday this past weekend, so in today's post, I want to share with you my perspective around this event …

It is funny, because I always feel anxious around my birthday for some strange reason. This time, I could feel it more intensely. It is as if I have a massive amount of energy building up within and around me. This still remains a mystery to me.

Anyways, since a year ago, my perspective around time has changed soooo much, that thinking about my birthday under the context of linearity seemed senseless. Let me explain … As my consciousness has expanded, I have come to know that time is just an illusion, and so is space. We have been under a matrix that makes us feel as if time was real, but this is just an illusion. The only moment is the now, and the now is a paradox.

Within the now we have timeless time and space of no space. We have infinity and emptiness. We are the one and the many. And it is by embracing this paradox that we can dwell in the indivisibility and eternity of our Selves. It was this understanding that made me change my perception about my birthday.

We are made anew in each moment, literally. If we could only let go the memories of what we consider to be the “past”, we would be completely renewed and regenerated each second of our lives. It is only by clinging to the past that we bring that illusion into the present.

I love this affirmation from the ancient records of the Hadjika: “I am beginningless and endless”. And I also love this quote: “The presence of the master who dwells in the uncompromising certainty of a deathless existence, brings exponential blessings to all life”.

Once we realize that we can not be contained within space or time, that we are a superimposed over all that is, and that all is within us; we will then come to know ourselves as eternal.

That being said, I used my “birthday” as an opportunity to reiterate my eternity, to practice my perception of timelessness, and to believe in the fullness of my ever-renewing being. And of course, I had a special time sharing this celebration with my family. And even more special is the fact that my brother, who is 3 years younger than me was also born the same day, so we both celebrated at the same time!

Many of you may be wondering what I ate that day, so I decided to share with you the food I made for myself with love and appreciation (: I did not take the next time!): As the main course, I decided to create a dish using massaged kale with olive oil, some quinoa, raw pesto and avocado, it was fabulous! And for dessert, I got this amazing raw cheesecake with berries from a newly found vegan restaurant in Mexico City. The best thing of all is that I got to share this with my beloved ones and they very much enjoyed it as well!

So today, I hope you can recognize, through these words, the magnificent, eternal, and endless part of you. This is an invitation to celebrate our birthdays each second of our lives. Because we are truly anew in each moment!

Achieving Optimal Daily Diet, Excellent Health and Spiritual Advancement

A Precarious Existence for the First Eighteen Years of Life

My mother was born and raised in a tiny town in the state of Ohio. She grew up in a time when women, in general, were almost wholly ignorant about sex, conception and childbirth. My mother was not the exception.

She struggled during her pregnancy with me, being her first conception. She suffered depression, fearing to give birth, because she did not understand the hormonal changes going on inside of her.

When it came time to give birth to me, she labored for so long, the doctors considered C-section, which was not commonly, or routinely performed in that era.

Born into the world with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, I could process my mother's milk, baby food, nor water, and became jaundiced, almost dying within the first six weeks of life. When I formed stools, they had to be physically removed.

At six weeks of life, I developed pneumonia and was hospitalized, again. Now, it was an urgent struggle for the doctors to save my life. At six months of age, I was again hospitalized, developing pneumonia, again! And again, the doctors managed to save my infant life.

All during my childhood, I was constantly sick. I had one cold, after another, and one bout of flu, after another.

Added to this challenge, my Irish father was a big, stout, stern and commanding, demanding personality, who was also a heavy meat and potatoes eater. And being his firstborn son, who was weakly, he forced me to eat a lot of meat and potatoes.

I could not process the meat and was allergic to the potatoes. This constant sent my physical health into one long daily tailspin.

It appeared that I was allergic to life itself. My eyes constantly teared, streaming down my face. Everything I ate and breathed adversely affected me.

All during my childhood and teen years, I did not comprehend that my dad, in his own ignorance, was adding insult and injury to my health, because he was a heavy smoker, who smoked in the house. I was exposed to his secondhand smoke which was also making me ill.

Nine Years of Battling Addictions

The next nine years of my life was more unconsciously than consciously added to cigarettes, alcohol and other drugs.

During this decade, I thought everything bad that could happen to a person was coming to me. It would take another three years to come to grips with overcoming the additions and beginning a path to achieving optimal health and subsequent spiritual clarity.

I spent the two years, prior to age thirty-two, teaching myself hypnotic self-programming, wherein I would daily envision myself doing my normal routines, without smoking, drinking and ingesting drugs of any kind.

At age thirty-two, in the spring of that year, I had reduced smoking, from four to six packs of cigarettes a day to just four cigarettes a day. One day I made the firm decision to stop smoking, equivalent, start drinking purified water, and go on an organic juice fast for seven days, in order to cleanse my body of all remaining nicotine and other toxins.

I succeeded, never returning to my former life of addictions. But for another eighteen months, I would battle the psychological addiction to smoke.

The Present

During the next three decades of living, I focused increasingly on becoming the diligent observer, consciously aware how eating particular foods made me feel, after a meal. And I began to see a pattern of feeling tired, lethargic, lacking energy and having allergic reactions.

Thus, I began a quest to first start eliminating all meats from my diet. I never liked eating beef or pork. I was soon free of eating chicken, turkey and fish.

Educating myself regarding the different types of water purification systems, I finally found a system that has been tested and verified to remove 100% of fluoride, chlorine, mercury and other harmful substances, but not removing the beneficial minerals which are naturally in the water.

The study of herbs, both for cooking, cold meal preparations, and taking internally in capsule or liquid form, has been a lifelong study, since 1982.

The most important things I can tell you are these:

1. 34 Years Illness-free: I have not had one episode of ill-health since 1982. Personally, I consider this a miracle exhibition of the healing power of the human body and mind, in the experience of even a formerly sickly a child, teen and young adult) individual and an easily addictive type personality.

2. Continual Dietary Refinement: At the present time in my life, I have for several years, now, eliminated all processed foods of any kind from my diet. I am processed-foods-free. I simply do not eat them. Recently, I have mad another great and dramatic change to my daily diet, establishing what would be for most others, a radical move toward a total focus on vibrational alignment between the physical, mental and spiritual.

3. Purified Water: Purified water is the focal point in my daily diet regimen. I consume 3 quart bottles of purified water (not bottled water, not distilled water and not purified water from any other source, but my own in-house water filtration system that removes 100% of fluoride, chlorine, mercury, lead and other toxic chemicals and gases.

4. Vegan Diet: I have maintained a vegan diet for over two decades. I do not eat meat, pork, chicken, turkey or fish. My focus, in eating a vegan diet, is to eat cruciferous vegetables and fruits that are alkali-based, low in acidity. I eat a lot of garlic in my diet.

5. Organic Juices: My focus is on the intake of a wide variety of many fresh, organic juices, made from fruits and vegetables, drinking them in small amounts of one to two ounces, twice daily. The juices I drink usually contain all of the following, and may vary, from time to time. I juice: carrots, oranges, blueberries, mangoes, bananas, apples, grapes, pears, kiwi, pineapple, spirulina, green tea, spinach, broccoli, barley grass, wheat grass, garlic, Jerusalem artichoke, Nova Scotia dulse.

6. Herbs: I ingest chlorella, ginko biloba, astralagus, ginger and fenugreek, and turmeric (curcumin), daily.

7. Organic Herbal Teas: I drink: dandelion root, a combination herbal detox tea, a combination tea for the lungs, and chamomile tea before going to bed.

8. Other: Daily take 2 tablespoons of raw apple cider vinegar, a dime-sized amount of raw bee pollen, a teaspoon of black seed oil, and a teaspoon of organic baking soda. I also walk up to three times, daily, for a minimum of 15 to 20 minutes.

9. Philosophy: In my early twenties, I adopted a set of 28 philosophical principals, by which I chose to live my life. I have never traveled from living, according to these principles. They can all be summed up in interacting with others, as I would want them to interact with me, allowing for the fact that others will almost always fall short in their interactions with me. Expect not. And do not give advice, until it is asked for. Even then, give advice thoughtfully and sparingly. Listen far more than I speak.

10. Spirituality: Religion, for me, is a living inner experience, not an outer one. I practice spiritual unity with all individuals with whom I have the opportunity to communicate. Religious, intellectual, philosophical and scientific uniformity is an illusion and will never be achieved, not even under threat of death. Inner living religion is the direct connection to the indwelling divine presence of God … the still, small and whispering voice within, which will ever guide us toward the eventual achievement of self-control, self-mastery and lasting inner peace and happiness.

My Daily Healthy Regimen

Please Note: It is proper and necessary to clarify that this is my diet. It is unique to me, because I have worked to refine my daily health regimen for almost 4 decades of my life. Before beginning any diet, you should always consult your physician to see if there is any negative interactions with medicines you may be taking.

1. I almost always bound out of bed around 4:00 – 5:00 am, sometimes a little earlier and sometimes a little later.

2. I begin my writing and publishing day with a 12 oz. cup of dandelion or detox tea. I do not allow myself to take in nutrition, until I follow the cup of tea with 32 oz. of purified water.

3. Then I take 2 oz. each of four combination juices, along with 1 oz. of Alive Daily Liquid Vitamin. This, again, is followed with 32 oz. of purified water, taking my herbs, organic cider vinegar, black seed oil, and organic baking soda (aluminum free), followed by walking for 15-20 minutes, at a brisk pace.

4. In the late afternoon, I have 12 oz. of another herbal tea, followed by a light meal of cruciferous and leafy vegetables, and lots of turmeric and garlic.

5. This is followed by another 32 oz. of purified water, after 1 hour for digestion. Just before bed, usually around 8:00 pm, I drink another 12 oz. cup of chamomile or combination chamomile tea.

God’s Protection In Dreams And His Logic

God produces psychotherapeutic dreams for every person. However, only a few people understand His messages and obey His guidance.

Now that I simplified Carl Jung's method of dream interpretation you can easily understand God's words in dreams. You must be an obedient patient and student, so that you may have God's protection in life. This way you will preserve your mental stability even when you will face difficult situations.

I will give you a practical example and show you a few sentences from the dream of a young woman and my translations, without giving you information about her life biography.

I can only tell you that her story is similar to the story of Romeo and Juliet. She is following the unconscious guidance and trying to be diplomatic and reasonable instead of showing anger with all the problems she is constantly dealing with.

'I would stay in a hotel with my family. We needed a taxi to take us directly to the main entrance of the hotel. I saw this cab guy was very friendly he charged us less than the fare amount needed. Staying outside the hotel appeared very unsafe. People where doing the worse things ever stealing, raping etc. Shortly, we entered a lift going up to our room @ d hotel. '

Dream translation:

'I would stay in a hotel with my family.'

The hotel indicates that you would analyze something for a short period of time.

Since you were with your parents this means that you were with the worst parts of your personality: your anti-conscience (your mother) and your one-sided conscience (your father). Therefore, the negative parts of your personality were influencing your behavior.

Your ego would make a research for a short period of time with the worst parts of your personality.

'We needed a taxi to take us directly to the main entrance of the hotel. I saw this cab guy was very friendly he charged us less than the fare amount needed. '

The taxi indicates the intervention of divine custody. The taxi driver was God's servant. He charged you less that the fare amount needed because you are translating the meaning of your dreams and obeying the unconscious guidance. God's protection is saving you and helping you understand how your brain works and how to have a wise behavior in all circumstances.

The taxi is a vehicle. Therefore, it represents your life, which is following God's guidance, since it is driven by God's servant.

Money in dreams represents psychological energy, enthusiasm. You had to pay less for having God's protection because you are an obedient patient. You do not need to lose your enthusiasm for having God's protection because you do not become upset when you have to do something that is the opposite of what you had the intention to do. You understand that the divine unconscious mind is helping you, and you immediately obey the divine guidance.

You need the taxi to go to the main entrance of the hotel because you have to analyze the worst parts of your personality, which are influencing your behavior (your family), while having God's protection.

You need protection also because there are many dangers around the hotel.

'Staying outside the hotel seemed very unsafe. People where doing the worse things ever stealing, raping etc. '

The street represents a dangerous place.

These people that were stealing, raping, etc. represent violent and immoral parts of your personality that belong to your anti-conscience.

You had the protection of the divine unconscious mind, so that you could understand how to tame the violent and immoral parts of your personality, after analyzing their behavior, and after analyzing the behavior of the worst parts of your personality (your parents).

'Shortly, we entered a lift going up to our room @ d hotel.'

When you go upstairs in dreams you go to the conscious level, which is up. Since you used the lift, this means that your ego and the worst parts of your personality suddenly arrived at the conscious level. In other words, the ignored content that was down, in the region of your anti-conscience, suddenly became known by your conscience.

You suddenly understood that these two parts of your personality (your parents) were as evil as the violent and immoral parts of your personality that were in a dangerous place (the street), around the place where you would analyze the various parts of your personality for a certain period of time (the hotel) according to God's plan, since you had His protection.

You were analyzing the worst parts of your personality in order to learn control your behavior instead of having a negative attitude with your enemies. You have to tame the violent parts of your personality, without thinking that you are an innocent victim in an unfair situation.

God's logic is based on goodness. Therefore, God shows to the dreamer that she must forgive her enemies and care about eliminating the negative parts of her personality. She is not better than her enemies, even though she is in the position of a victim.

Now, will God be good with the dreamer's enemies? Will He forgive them the same way He tells the dreamer that she must forgive her enemies?

Of course not. Her enemies will be heavily punished. However, God's punishments are based on goodness because they correct our evil and forbidden behavior. These punishments are like surgical operations that cure our psyche.

The fact that the dreamer's enemies will be punished is not something that must make the dreamer glad. This is why God does not console her telling her that her enemies will suffer very much and regret having done her and her boyfriend.

God shows her that she must transform her personality instead of condemning her enemies, because she is not perfect. She must forgive her enemies, and care about becoming a perfect human being.

With this example you can understand God's logic. God makes everyone forgive others and pay attention to their own mistakes.

If God would try to help the dreamer feel better by telling her that her enemies would be punished, he would follow the logic of the anti-conscience, which is violent and assumes as valid the promise that obtaining revenge is a logical desire.

The anti-conscience feels pleasure with other people's suffering. It follows an absurd logic, based on its absurd feelings. However, our conscience is deficient and it can not understand the absurdity of the anti-conscience's thoughts. This is why we believe in our anti-conscience's justifications, and we agree with its absurd logic.

We have to develop our human conscience by obeying the divine guidance during our lives. When we obey God's guidance we understand His logic and we agree with His wisdom. Therefore, we prefer to be good, even when showing goodness does not seem to be advantageous for us.

God's logic pays attention to the organization of our social life, so that it may be harmonic. We depend on one another.

The selfish logic of the anti-conscience disregards the importance of our social life. It makes us consider all human beings our enemies. This is why we take advantage of others, and we are indignant to their pain.

We can not understand that we would live much better if we would love one another. We only pretend to agree with this idea, while we have military forces protecting our interests, and we are unable to forgive our enemies.

The ”Mommy Trap” – When Did You Stop Looking After Yourself? And When Will You Start Again?

Women are caregivers and often the foundation of the family unit. Throughout history women have assumed or been assigned various social roles. It is no secret that having a great body image is important to most women especially after body changes due to child birth, pre-menopause and post-menopause. In addition, a lot of women may not feel great about themselves and their bodies because of mental and emotional abuse, manipulative and abusive relationship just to mention a few. Not surprising that they sometimes find comfort in the '' comfort zone of their daily routine '' and disconnect from their true essence and authentic self.

Furthermore, they stop giving them the attention they deserve and their wellness and fitness take a back sit. You hear things like – I am now a wife, I am now a mother, there are more important things, my husband loves me anyway, I used to be hot and fit back in the days, well I do not just have the time etc … etc. Given these reasons, it is becoming more obvious that most women are not motivated to get in shape and may find going to the traditional gymnasium unsuitable to their circumstances. And there are not many fitness programs out there that suits the modern lifestyle and specially crafted to deal with these challenges.

What is needed is a program that: (I) '' slows '' these women down and reminds them of their importance as well as inner and outer beauty; (ii) makes them feel good while developing the body and improving their fitness; (iii) they can do anywhere, anytime either in their own privacy or in a class with other women should they wish to experience that group energy; (iv) develop their emotional and mental shields; and (v) with graceful movements that invokes feminine beauty and is not time-consuming.

Every woman describes to be healthy and feel special regardless of shape, size, creed, color, age, family, or income levels. So, it's time to polish the gem which you already are so you can shine. Get in shape because you respect your body and mind and deserve the best for you. It is time to knock down those walls of lies, smash those shackles of inhibitions placed upon you by society and by yourself and free your mind, body and spirit. So, get up and get your body and mind back in shape because only you can do it for you and remember, YOU MATTER!

How to Manage Your Stress and Gain Peace of Mind

In my work as a motivational speaker I am frequently asked to come and make people feel good about themselves, life and their workplace. From the number of requests I receive for topics related to laughter, joy, happiness and peace of mind, it is obvious that there is a serious problem out there when it comes to living full, happy and relaxed lives.

I believe that life is meant to be enjoyed in spite of the pain and suffering that exist in abundance. Life is fundamentally a mystery to be lived and celebrated, not a problem to be resolved and endured. There is something terribly wrong when the World Health Organization precedes that by the year 2020 AD depression will be the leading cause of disability through the world. There is something wrong when sleeping pills and tranquilizers are devoured by the truckload through North America; when children, in ever increasing numbers, are plagued with attention deficit disorder; when stories of spousal abuse, child abuse, road rage, substance abuse and youth violence fill the pages of newspapers daily.

We have lost the art of joyful, peaceful living. The question is, “How are we going to rediscover it?” I do not profess to have the answers to all the complex social and psychological problems confronting society today. I will leave this task to those more qualified, although the experts do not seem to have any answers either. I just want to address what we as individuals can do to live more effectively and enthusiastically in this chaotic world.

If there is any truth to the adage that, while we have no control over what happens to us in life, we do have total control over our attitude towards what happens to us, then this is the place to start. Change our attitudes and we can change our lives.

I do not want to let governments go unchallenged. They do have a responsibility to invest heavily in the well-being of their citizens. But the fact remains that we, as individuals, must take control of our lives to ensure that we do everything in our power to maximize achievement and to actualize our tremendous potential.

Brian Tracy, in his book, “Maximum Achievement” says that happiness and peace of mind are the highest goods in life and achieving both should be our central task to which all others should be subservient

Let me share some of the techniques and strategies I have found effective in creating happiness and peace of mind in my own life. Once again I want to remind you that we are less interested in achieving perfection in what we do, and more interested in progress.

THOUGHT REPLACEMENT: If we choose our thoughts and we are able to think of only one thing at a time then to be happy and at peace choose happy and peaceful thoughts. It sounds easy and it is, in theory. The problem arises in keeping the mind, which tends to be like a racehorse, focused on the thought selected. As difficult as this is at first, it does become easier with practice.

VISUALIZATION: I find it helpful to use visualization to replace negative, stressful and unhappy thoughts. I visualize, in my mind, the thought I want to dismiss actually leaving my body and a new, happy or peaceful thought entering and remaining.

MEDITATION AND RELAXATION: Doctor Herbert Benson in his book, “The Relaxation Response” outlines the physical and psychological benefits of relaxation as well as various methods and techniques used to invoke the relaxation response. Each method is effective and produces similar results. Whether you use meditation, progressive relaxation, deep breathing or self-hypnosis, it does not matter. What you want to do is induce the alpha state and reap its benefits. All of these methods accomplish this.

I use meditation to go for alpha. I find that it helps me effectively dwell on one thought to the exclusion of all others.

AFFIRMATIONS: When in the relaxed or alpha state I give myself positive suggestions or affirmations related to the attitude I want to change or the emotion I want to experience. The important word here is 'positive'. Never use negative phrases like, “I will not think such and such.” It is much more effective to say, “I will think such and such.” Also, keep your affirmations and suggestions in the present tense, eg “I am becoming more peaceful every moment” rather than, “I will become more peaceful.” Remember that we tend to become what we constantly affirm.

The Scientific Explanation For The Battle Between God And Satan

The protective function of dreams was observed in dream interpretations found in the Bible, and in dream interpretations of Native Americans. Dream predictions always protect the dreamers from bad events.

However, in our historical time the meaning of dreams is not considered to be a valid source of information. It became a chaotic matter that could not be understood. There are so many dream theories and so many dream interpreters who follow subjective methods that many people do not know which method of dream interpretation could be trusted.

The anti-conscience is represented by Satan in religious documents and various artistic creations. Satan is the devil; the lord of evil.

In modern times Satan is a mythological entity that does not frighten the human being. We gave scientific definitions for our crimes and our mental disorders, and we do not believe that a person is possessed by Satan when they are violent, cruel, and absurd.

However, this is exactly what happens. Satan is not a myth, and it is not only in the outside world. Satan is within our brain. We should be afraid of the demon; especially because it occupations the largest part of our brain.

All dreams have a protective function because our conscience must be protected from the attacks of our satanic anti-conscience in order to survive and evolve.

In dreams Satan appears as:

The dreamer's mother – The anti-conscience is the primitive mother of consciousness, which became satanic because of the deceptions of life. Even when the dreamer's mother is a good person and loves the dreamer, her meaning in dreams always is negative.

Violent and immoral people – Other people in dreams represent parts of the dreamer's personality. Violent and immoral people represent parts of the dreamer's personality that are controlled by his / her anti-conscience, and are very dangerous.

People who suffer from a mental illness – A mentally ill person in dreams represents an absurd and evil part of the dreamer's personality controlled by his / her anti-conscience.

A demon – The demon in dreams usually represents an absurd and evil person who is around the dreamer in his / her daily life, but it can also represent the dreamer's anti-conscience, depending on the dream story.

Hell in dreams is represented by fire and smoke.

The atheistic mindset of the modern civilization defends materialistic concepts, without believing in life after death. This is why we are selfish and greedy, and we care only about having material pleasures. In other words, we are controlled or influenced by our satanic anti-conscience most of the time.

The solution for humanity is the cultivation of goodness in our hearts. This solution was discovered by many ancient civilizations because it was inspired by the divine unconscious mind.
