Health News – Why Are Skinny Models Banned From Fashion Shows?

The fashion industry sets the trends not only for clothing and accessories but also for the way in which people and women, in particular, should look. The skinny models have been fashion icons since the early 1990's and this has had a major impact on girls and young women. The most recent health news is that such models have been kicked from working in the fashion industry in Israel and many other countries are expected to follow. What has led to this?

From 2013, all models that have body mass index (BMI) below 18.5 will not be allowed to work in Israel. The health news websites reveal that the country's government has imposed this law as part of a more intensive campaign against eating disorders. This is the first country in the world which imposes such strict regulations.

The fashion industry has already made attempts to do so too. Skinny models are not allowed to appear at shows during the Madrid Fashion Week and the Milan Fashion Week. Influential organizations such as the Council of Fashion Designers of America and magazines like Vogue and Elle have also started campaigns for promoting “healthy bodies” in the fashion world.

The campaign against skinny models is gaining massive proportions around the world. It was started in the second half of the 2000's after the fashion news became filled with reports of models dying from anorexia. In addition, the health news revealed that the number of people suffering from anorexia and bulimia (the two most dangerous eating disorders) reached nearly 24 million in the US alone.

Anorexia and bulimia are eating disorders but they fall in the spectrum of mental disorders. The sufferers adopt unhealthy habits because they have an uncontrolled fear of gaining weight and because they see themselves as overweight no matter how thin they become. It has been determined that these eating disorders are a direct result of the psychological pressure carried on young women to be thin. Since the fashion industry determines what is beautiful and what is not and skinny models rule the scene, it is natural for the pressure on women of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds to be huge.

It is thought that with the banning of skinny models from fashion show, there will be less pressure on women to be thin and they will be better stimulated to have a healthy weight and to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Unfortunately, many expects have commented in the health news that this measure may not have a large-scale effect. This is because there is still huge pressure exercised on models to be thin by different people in the industry. Furthermore, the stores are flooded with designer clothes of tiny sizes.

What can you do to stay healthy and fit? Pay more attention to the health news than to the fashion news.

Medical Miracles

I spent forty years in medical education and hospital practice. One day I was imprisoned at lunch with the hospital Chaplain and the conversational lapsed into one of those uncomfortable periods of silence. For some reason, I blurted out, “Have you ever seen a miracle?” With enthusiasm, he announced, “Yes, one time. I did witness a miracle cure, one time.”

He had been visiting every day with a man who was scheduled for surgery for a tumor seen on a CAT scan. The man was reticent about praying with the Chaplain during the early visits, but became more involved as the day of surgery approached. After the chaplain's last visit, the man had a repeat CAT scan on the day before surgery scheduled for the following morning. There was no evidence of any tumor and the surgery was canceled. That evening, the Chaplain got a phone call from the man's wife telling him of the miraculous cure. The next morning, he stopped by the man's room and found him packing to leave the hospital. Surrounded by a warm glow, the Chaplain said, “Well, John, going home I see … and without any surgery.” The man put down his packing, turned to the Chaplain and said, “I am so sorry I bothered you with all this when it turns out I never had cancer after all-so sorry I wasted your time.” Then, he asked the Chaplain to please never mention all this to anyone as he was embarrassed by the whole thing. My cafeteria conversation with the Chaplain ended with him saying that it was a shame it had turned out this way, saying, “It sure would have made some great sermons.” I was glad that he did not ask me if it was possible for a CAT scan to misdiagnose a tumor on a patient and then for a repeat CAT scan to show no evidence of that same finding-I would have had to tell him that this was absolutely possible, since no medical test is 100% accurate.

Years later, I had a personal friend, Bill, who was on his death bed in the ICU of the hospital and he was terrified of dying. There was nothing his wife or his friends-including myself-could do to console him. It was very frustrating to be unable to help him in his time of need. there was an elderly black lady, Rose, who had been nursing him in his home during his last year of illness. The day before he died, Rose appeared in the hospital to visit Bill. She was much advised by everyone for her calm demeanor while she worked in our homes-while we were fussing about losing our car keys or being late for an appointment, Rose went about humming hymns. Her favorite was “The Garden,” which ends with the verse; “I walk in the garden alone while the dew is still on the roses, and the voice I hear speaking in my ear, the son of God discloses. And he talks with me, and he tells me that I am his own. ” Rose asked Bill's wife if she could have a word with him privately. When Bill saw Rose come to his bedside, he said, “What's going to happen to me, Rose?” Bill's wife never could hear what Rose whispered (or perhaps sang) in his ear, but he almost immediately relaxed and smiled for the first time in weeks. Later that day he died peacefully without a trace of anxiety.

I have no idea if the Chaplain's prayers removed the man's tumor from his CAT scan-each person must decide these things for himself. However, I am certain that a miracle occurred during Rose's visit to Bill's hospital room-through the wisdom and kindness of another human being, a man lost all fear of his coming death, and that's a miracle in my opinion. Perhaps the reason miracles are so rare is because we look to heaven to provide them.

Horse Ministries Can Help Heal the Broken

Horses and Human Relationship

With their majestic beauty, horses are the perfect venue to teach people about faith and relationship with others. Unbroken horses are much like people in that they choose to do what they want instead of what their master wants them to do. Their rebellion can get them into trouble, just like people who rebel against authority and become angry at the world.

The process of training a horse with a firm yet gentle touch can teach people to see how God works in our own lives. Gentle yet firm correction trains the horse into obedience just like the discipline our Father provides when we stray.

A visit to a Christian horse ministry allows even non-believers to learn about the wonderful news of Christ while bonding with the beautiful animals. Many people who are hurting are touched by the gentleness of the animals as they groom and stroke them. Horse ministries provide the opportunity for inner healing to those who are struggling with drug addiction or emotional issues.

Many believe that horses facilitate healing because of an innate ability to know what a person needs in order to heal. The animals are often paired with adults and children that are suffering from emotional pain, repetitive behaviors, or serious physical diseases. The massive animals can often sense uncertainty in a person as well as deeply seated emotional distress.

Riding a horse is a tactile experience that uses the whole body and requires mutual trust between the horse and rider. This activity can open the person up and help with healing the emotions, the physical body, the mind, and restoring the spirit to peace.

Healing for Abused Horses

Horse ministries also provide a safe place for the beautiful animals to find their own peace. Many of the horses have been rescued from abusive environments or from owners that could not properly care for them. Caring for these hurt animals can help develop trust, responsibility and patience in young people with deep emotional wounds. Many of these children have trouble relating with their parents and peers but form a deep trust with the horse giving the Christian horse ministry an opportunity to express the love of Jesus.

Support Christian Horse Ministry

Most horse ministries function as non-profit organizations even if they do not take advantage of all the benefits of this status. Horses are expensive animals to care for so most Christian horse ministries do accept pledges to help with feeding and boarding the horses. Donations also help fund veterinary care for the ministry horses when needed.

How to Avoid Getting the Flu: Top Ten Ways to Protect Yourself and Stay Healthy

The headlines are frightening: “Flu outbreak!” “Hospitals Overrun!” The media has certainly made the public aware of the recent deadly outbreak of flu. However, what does that really mean for you and me?

We have known for some time, of the potential for a severe flu outbreak. Luckily, the flu vaccine made for this year, seems to match the most common strain affecting our population. This is of great benefit to all who chose to be vaccinated.

However, not everyone is comfortable with pollution, and there are times when even that is not enough maintain health. Knowing what you are dealing with can help you to make smart choices to protect your personal health and the health of those around you. To be healthy by choice, and not by chance, here are some t hings to keep in mind:

  • The flu is a virus, not a bacterial infection. Antibiotics will NOT help symptoms. They could even compound problems when taken unnecessarily.
  • Viruses are highly contagious, meaning you can contract them easily, through simple exposure.
  • The flu virus is spread through respiratory droplets, when someone coughs or sneezes.
  • It can be spread through the air when you breathe it in.
  • The flu virus can live on hard surfaces for up to 8 hours, and on your hands, making it very easy to carry from person to person.
  • The main routes of transmission include the mouth, nose, and eyes . When you touch a contaminated surface, and then those places on your face, you introduce the virus into your system.
  • Keep hands off your face and away from these areas unless you are 100% certain that your hands are germ free.
  • Be aware and hypervigilant in high-risk areas, such as schools, restaurants, large gatherings, all public places, bathrooms, kitchens, and hospitals / Dr. offices. Surfaces / items in these high-risk areas have the potential for the flu virus to be present on all hard surfaces shared by others. Take precautions.
  • Flu symptoms should appear within 48 hours of exposure, but an actual flu case can not be “confirmed” right away.
  • The young, old, and infirmed are at greatest risk; however, everyone is susceptible to this virus. Decreased immunity due to age, preexisting conditions or compromised immune function, make the risk for serious complications such and pneumonia and death more likely.
  • Taking personal preceditions as a rule will greatly reduce your chances of illness. The CDC recommends that high-risk individuals get their flu shot as a first-line precaution.
  • Antiviral medication from your doctor, such as Tamiflu, and Relenza, can be taken to reduce the duration and severity of the illness, but only when taken within the first 48 hours of the sunset of symptoms.

With the media attention, and the potential for rapid spread, many have become concerned about their own personal safety. While this may seem like a new problem, the precautions are the same ones you have heard for years. Here are the top ten ways you can protect yourself from the flu.

  1. Wash your hands! Wash or sanitize before eating, after restroom use and often in between.
  2. Keep your hands off your face, especially eyes, nose, and mouth.
  3. Cover your cough. Ideally cough into your sleeve at the crook of your elbow (vents hand to hand to hand, and hand to surface, spread). Dispose of tissues properly and then wash your hands.
  4. Keep at least an arms distance (three feet is recommended) between you and anyone known to be ill.
  5. Avoid crowded events and gatherings when possible. Wear a mask if you are concerned.
  6. Use extreme precautions when touching common-use items such as ketchup / mustard / salt / pepper / menus at a restaurant, or multi-use areas such as desks, tables, light switches, faucet handles, key boards, chair backs, water fountains, phones, magazines, doorknobs, and etc.
  7. Wash hard surfaces regularly with a sanitizer or bleach solution. Carry hand sanitizer and use regularly. Note: Always wash with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
  8. Keep your immune system strong by eating properly, exercising, getting adequate rest, and proper vitamin and mineral supplementation.
  9. Stay home when you are ill with a fever and respiratory complications.
  10. If you become severely ill with fever and massive aches and fatigue, seek medical attention within the first 48 hours of the onset of symptoms (earlier the better) to seek an antiviral medication. This can reduce the severity of symptoms and the duration of the illness.

The bottom line: This is a serious illness, however by understanding how the virus is spread and taking proper precautions you can keep yourself healthy. Even if you are unfortunate enough to contract the illness, by seeking medical attention early, your chances of getting through the illness without problems is very good.

Remember that knowledge is power. Be proactive. Do not wait to see if you get ill; take the basic precautions to avoid it. Be empowered! Use what you know to stay well this flu season, and beyond.

How to Become a Superior Human Being and Surpass Your Historical Time

Most people believe that what is bad is necessary because it is part of life. They think that you have to pass through bad moments in life so that you may be able to appreciate your happy moments. Otherwise, you will not notice your happiness. It seems that for them your capacity to evaluate what is good depends on your traumatic experiences.

Most people believe that what is bad has a positive side. What is bad seems to be more advantageous for them. This is why they like to lie. For these people, the acceptance of a dishonest action is very simple, especially because they can hide their dishonesty. They believe that they should be dishonest to their advantage if they can hide their actions and avoid everyone's criticism.

In a few words, most people are misled by the impression that what is bad can have a positive side.

On the other hand, most people believe that the fight between good and evil is an unavoidable battle. Everything on our planet follows this rule. All animals have natural enemies. Everything in our world is ambiguous, and has two contrasting sides.

Nothing is only good or only bad. For example, it is good to get married and have a family, but getting married is problematic in many ways. You have to get adapted to many difficult conditions when you have a family, and you have many responsibilities. It is good to work hard and make a lot of money, but money can not buy health, peace, love, and authentic happiness. You can not disregard other aspects of your life.

Everything has a positive and a negative side.

Thus, you tend to believe that what is bad can not be avoided. The idea of living in a perfect world without problems and without negative aspects seems to be unreal, and even boring. The bad elements and the bad events seem to complete the good ones.

However, the truth is that our reality is based on the fight between good and evil because we live in order to eliminate our wild tendencies and learn how to be wise and sensitive human beings. This truth was discovered when I continued Carl Jung's research into the unknown region of the human psyche through dream interpretation.

We do not need what is bad. The existence of evilness is a tragedy, which always ends up on terror. Evilness is the result of the disorganized formation of the first live conscience. We inherit a satanic conscience (anti-conscience) because we can think. The anti-conscience is a natural disaster.

We did not need to have this burden. The satanic anti-conscience is the result of the disorganized development of the fist live conscience, which was unable to solve its existential problems and became crazy. We have to eliminate the absurd content we have inherited into the largest part of our brain through consciousness.

We have to eliminate our wild conscience and learn how to be wise and sensitive human beings.

When we'll learn how to be wise and sensitive human beings we will eliminate what is bad from our psyche, from our lives, and from our world.

By translating the meaning of your dreams you'll follow a process of mind empowerment, which will help you start using all our psychological functions and become more intelligent. You'll acquire consciousness because you'll understand your mistakes, and definitively stop making these mistakes.

At this point you'll clearly understand that whatever is bad is totally unnecessary.

You have to eliminate what is bad. You have to be afraid of what is bad, without accepting it in your life as if it was unavoidable, or as if it could have a positive side.

Whatever is bad becomes worse with time.

We do not need to pass through traumatic experiences in order to learn the importance of our happy moments. We have to suffer when we are unable to evaluate what is good in order to learn how to be grateful for what we have, but the traumatic experiences caused by the existence of what is bad should not exist. Their existence is problematic.

Traumatic experiences generated by terror cause severe mental illnesses.

By translating the meaning of your dreams you will understand the depth of the human ignorance and the depth of the human evilness and absurdity. You will also verify that the unconscious mind is wise and saintly. The unconscious mind is God's mind, a truth discovered by Carl Jung before me. He did not have a religious attitude because he was a scientist and he could not perceive the unconscious sanctity.

I had to complete his research and emphasize the religious importance of God's existence. The world must understand the real importance of God's guidance.

The unconscious guidance always protects your sanity, helping you understand the importance of goodness for the maintenance of your mental stability.

When you'll master the dream language and you'll have a direct contact with the unconscious mind you will verify that the unconscious wisdom really proves God's existence into practice.

Most people can not believe in God's existence because they follow the atheistic and materialistic mindset of the current civilization. Thus, God is not received with enthusiasm.

Most people do not like the idea of having to believe in the existence of God, except they need support. They prefer to be free to make mistakes instead of obeying God's guidance.

However, the truth is that Jung's discoveries and my discoveries put an end to many problems at the same time because God is very powerful. God can not put an end to craziness and terror alone, but God can make true miracles when we obey His guidance.

You should understand that the aversion we feel for obedience comes from our wild nature. You have to fight your tendency to dislike the idea of obeying God's guidance.

Of course you should obey the divine wisdom. You are ignorant and God is wise. You are evil and God is saintly. Of course you do not know what is really good or bad, since you are ignorant and evil because you have inherited evilness into your anti-conscience. Your obedience to God's wisdom is a wise attitude.

You have to humbly recognize your inferiority and God's superiority. You will become a superior human being if you'll learn how to eliminate what is bad from your psyche and from your life. Then, you will use all of your brain power, and really have a reason to feel important. Right now you have many idiotic reactions because your conscience is under-developed.

The direct communication you can have with God through dream translation is an extraordinary alternative that you must receive with great enthusiasm, even if the world can not understand the real meaning of God's existence.

My clarifications and simplifications of Carl Jung's method of dream interpretation prove to the world that the meaning of dreams is specific, the dream language is universal, and once you learn the meaning of the dream symbols and the dream logic you'll have this knowledge for life. You'll be able to immediately translate the meaning of everyone's dreams, not only your own.

The dream language is always the same. The dream language is a clear language, as comprehensible as the English language, with the difference that it is made by images instead of words.

Carl Jung was the only one who had the patience to make a very complicated research for years, and look for the meaning of the dream images for all civilizations. Nobody else could have his patience and manage to refer so many different aspects and all their details at the same time in order to discover the real meaning of dreams. Carl Jung was a true genius.

I found his work ready and I followed all his steps. When I discovered the wisdom of the unconscious mind that produces our dreams, I started obeying the unconscious mind. When I perceived the sanctity of the unconscious mind and I understood the depth of the human absurdity, I concluded that the ignorant human being must obey God's guidance in dreams.

My seriousness and my obedience saved me from craziness and terror, and I learned how to save others the same way. Everyone will simply follow my steps, which are simpler than the steps I had to follow until I could understand Carl Jung's complicated, time consuming, and obscure method of dream interpretation.

Now that everyone can understand God's words in dreams this means that everyone can be guided by God and easily understand what to do to find sound mental health, peace, and happiness. Then, everyone will save the world thanks to their work and their example.

However, this process of transformation will take time. Until everyone will learn the truth and understand how important and powerful the dream messages are, and until the world will really change because everyone will really obey God's guidance in their dreams, we will have to bear the problems caused by the absurd modern civilization.

You should be intelligent and learn how to translate the meaning of dreams according to the scientific method of dream interpretation discovered by Carl Jung and simplified by me, without waiting until the world will finally discover this miraculous solution and this method will become popular. This is how you will surpass your historical time and become a superior human being.

The Importance of Dreams and Your Spiritual Reality

Many people like dream therapy precisely because it is a short treatment for depression, neurosis, bipolar disorder and other simple mental illnesses. The treatment of schizophrenia and psychosis is long, but almost all the other mental illnesses are cured in a short period of time.

Dream therapy is an effective psychotherapeutic method because it is based on God's guidance. However, it is not only a treatment. Dream therapy is a lot more.

You'll discover a new dimension of life when you'll translate the meaning of your dreams and you'll understand God's words in the dream images. You'll verify that you can transform the material reality by transforming your spiritual reality.

God teaches you how to attain sanctity and discover new alternatives in life, which can not be attained when you are imperfect.

You understand that you live in a cruel world and you verify the depth of the human absurdity. You are able to see all the dangers of the way and avoid all traps. You pass through a process of psychological transformation and spiritual purification.

You become a wise and sensitive human being who takes life very seriously and always respects everyone.

You realize that you have infinite possibilities of evolution. You are able to solve all problems based on wisdom.

Wisdom is your capacity to understand what is right or wrong thanks to your sense of justice, which is based on compassion and sensibility. You do not close your eyes to what is bad like a hypocrite. You condemn what is bad and you correct what is wrong.

You are always protected by your moral principals and by the goodness you show to all human beings in all situations.

Justice is your capacity to discern what is right or wrong and understand the rights of every human being. The same way, justice is your capacity to understand the obligations of every human being as a conscious person.

Goodness is medicine. Goodness is your capacity to put an end to violence and terrorism thanks to your patience and thanks to your compassion. Goodness is your capacity to automatically forgive your enemies and help them find salvation.

Goodness is your generosity and your dignity when you face difficult life challenges that demand patience and tolerance. Goodness is your capacity to understand the meaning of love. Goodness is your capacity to accept making sacrifices in order to save others. Goodness is humbleness and sincerity. Goodness is wisdom and peace.

Peace is a state of harmony and satisfaction. Peace is tranquility, safety, happiness, and completion.

Peace depends on justice. Justice depends on the preservation of your moral principals.

Your moral principals protect your dignity and your mental stability because they help you have the behavior of a conscious human being.

Once you attain an evolutionary level that surpasses the level of the animal nature, you understand the importance of the new dimension of life exist behind the appearance reality. You stop being privileged, naïve, and indferent.

You become a wise and sensitive human being. Your vision of the world is huge. You can see everything as a whole. You also pay attention to all the details of your reality. At this point you realize that everything can be perfectly organized and that you are very lucky because God exists and He organized the nature of our planet.

However, God can not organize our psyche on our behalf without our cooperation, and this is why there are many disorganized mattes in our psyche and in our world. In order to organize our psyche, we have to respect the divine guidance in dreams and in our religion.

When you understand the importance of your spiritual reality you understand that you can solve all problems based on the simple solutions presented by your religion. All religions explain a part of the truth that composes our spiritual reality.

All religions teach us that we have to eliminate our ego and love all human beings. They also teach us that we have to love God more than we love ourselves because God is perfect. We must respect God's superiority and feel grateful for His sanctity.

Now that we can understand God's words in dreams we have many explanations for all mysteries. Now we know that we are absurd and evil. Now we know that we live in order to become peaceful and wise. All dreams help us transform our violent nature into peaceful nature.

Now we know that sanctity is the solution for all human problems, but the world is very far from sanctity. Nobody tries to attain sanctity on Earth.

Sanctity is not a state of absolute perfection that can characterize only rare human beings. Attaining sanctity should be everyone's purpose.

When we attain sanctity we attain wisdom and we find authentic happiness. We discover that only goodness can give meaning to our existence. We pay attention to everything. We stop having materialistic ideals and we stop concentrating our attention only on our daily lives.

The empty moments of our existence become meaningful. The incomparable importance of life becomes known. Our relationships are based on sincerity. Our behavior is always based on wisdom.

The Nature of Reality

Along with the left and right sides of your brain, with their well-defined yet overlapping functions, it's postulated that a third, more spiritual, brain exists.

Reflecting on the nature of reality can lead to a mighty headache if you do not know when to stop, but it's definitely worthwhile to consider what's real and what you share as you. It could lead you to greater understanding and tolerance of others' points of view.

Spiritual Reality

As of particles in quantum physics whose form is determined by the observer, you create your reality through your thoughts. The shape your attitudes and perceptions, which affect the way you view yourself and the perceptions that other people form of you. If you view yourself as positive and successful, you create that thought. You previously viewed yourself as Shy and retiring, you might have to work a little bit to break that old pattern of perception. Sometimes your perceptions are different from others. You may be surprised to hear 20 people will see you differently, as each may have a different slant, depending on his or her relationship with you, but this attitude should not affect your own self identity.

See yourself from the whole perspective. Spiritual reality, like some of the realms of quantum physics, is a realm of potentiality, where all possibilities are present in the same moment. Your focus determines what will arise in any situation. When you meditate or practice a form of spiritual discipline, you access the wellspring of life where your ability to develop potential can be trapped more fully. The ultimate spiritual perception is that of unification, where you recognize and know without doubt that all things spring from one source and that you are part of that source. Just as everything contains the stuff of stars, we are each unique and yet part of this whole.

What is reality?

Reality is what you perceive to be the absolute truth in your life – that is, the unchanging, solid basis for all that you see, feel and believe. If you were to receive a major shock that rocks your world (such as discovering as an adult that you were adopted by those whom you had always considered to be your birth parents), your reality would shift and change and you would have to learn how to adapt to a new reality. There are many dramatic events that can create a change in your appearance reality, and there are also illustrating situations in which you have perceptions that enable you to break out of the structure of everyday thought and see life in a very different way.

Acceptance in anchoring your world, what you think of as real may just be an illusion that is fabricated by your mind, or by a promising consensus, or by attitudes and thought patterns that derive from life experiences. Everyone agreements on the name of colors, for instance yet some of you might see colors differently than others and still use the same names for them. You shift internal gears to accommodate a given reality – for example, the words on this page look up right, yet the image received at the back of your eye is upside down. In the middle Ages the reality dictated that the sun revolved around the earth, but today the opposite is irrefutably true.

Physics and reality

The realms of quantum physics are unpredictable, and as the minute basic components of matter behave in unexpected ways you learn more about the nature of physical reality. An example of the scientific nature of quantum physics is Schrödinger's cat. In this thought experiment, a cactus put in a sealed room that contains a vial of poison, the file is set to break and poison the cat when an unpredictable quantum event occurs. As there is no way of knowing whether this event has happened, the cat is considered to be both alive and dead simultaniously. Only when the room is open is the reality of the cat's life or death become fixed. The quantum system is rife with examples of reality acting strangely, and the behavior of light is another classic example. When physicists began conducting experiments to test if light was a particle they found a positive result, but when they performed experiments to see if light was a wave, they also received positive results. It seemed that whatever the scientists tested for them found, it was if their intentions that affected the results. The problem was resolved by quantum mechanisms, which takes into account the unpredictability of reality, Uncertainty.

Reality and perception

Your reality is shaped by your perception of experiences. Perception is what you are currently aware of; your perception can change from moment to moment, depending on your state of mind. You can understand this as subjective and objective reality. Subjective reality is what you see, feel and experience according to what is happening in your life here and now. Your perceptions of reality will inevitably change as a result of your emotions shifting according to your experiences and circumstances and your body altering through hormonal fluctuations that affect your mood. If you are having a rough day and you drop a carton of milk and skillet over the floor, it might be the final straw that leads you to break down in tears. If the same event occurs when you are feeling happy and strong, you would clean up the milk without being particularly upset. The spilled milk is the objective reality – you know without any doubt that it happened. Your reaction is your subjective reality how you were feeling in that moment.

Are you sure you're objective?

Objective reality is the common consensus of what is unduly, unarguably real. Everyone has the same experience or view. Objective reality tells us that humans can not fly. Yet some yogis can levitate and hover above the ground, so even this can be disproved. Objective reality tells us that we can not walk through walls, and that the world is round. Objectivity should have no doubt.

Control your urge of looking at the mirror every now and then and wonder why your muscles are not building up. Just persevere with your workouts and things will work out in due course of time.

2. You're not keeping pace or track

If you do not have a workout schedule, you'll never have any idea of what you're going to do tomorrow. If you do not keep track of what you've been doing in the last two weeks, how'd you know what to do in the week ahead?

You should keep a logbook of your workouts where the details of the weight blocks used, the different stretching out exercises performed will be maintained. It will help you to keep track of the progress you've made and also help you to introduce any changes or modifications required midway.

3. Your plan lacks a structure

Mediocrity is the bane of all workout regimens. You should have a workout plan that reflects a certain degree of linearity and consistency. It should not be randomized. The perfect way of toning up your muscles and building up your overall strength is following a linear workout plan with gusto.

4. Chill out

The age old adage all work and no play makes you a dullard still holds and it'll be so for ages to come. Do not go overboard with your exercise regimen and do not workout in a manner as if there will be no tomorrow.

Take time out to enjoy a movie, go out on a date with your girlfriend and enjoy your job thoroughly. Live life to the hilt and banish all negative thoughts from your mind. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Cut down on your intake of processed foods and drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water everyday. Practice meditation and sleep soundly for eight hours. Your body needs enough rest to start afresh the next day.

5. Tone down your cardio workouts

If you're aiming for a well chiselled body with a washboard abdomen then your workout program should include a fair balance of a range of exercises. That calls for an eclectic mix of cardio workouts, abs building, and push ups and so on. Do not have a lopsided exercise program where you lay too much stress on a particular type of exercise.

6. You can not survive on salads alone

In your obsession to develop six pack abs and shed fat as fast as possible, you're on a caveman's diet. You're subsisting on salads, fruits and vegetables and avoiding whole or processed foods entirely due to appreciation that you'll not be able to meet your objectives.

You tend to workout more aggressively than regular exercisers as you're on a muscle building and body strengthening mission. So you'd need to imbibe calories more than your normal intake for supporting the growth and development of your muscles. Stay away from junk food and take more of organic foods.

7. Shunning drop-sets

Drop sets are instrumental in stimulating hypertrophic activity within the muscles. This sort of workout involves exercising with weights below the maximum limit. Instead of working out with multiple mini-sets, try to work more with drop sets for pumping out your muscles. Take short breaks in between.

8. Do not get addicted

This guideline is a corollary of the 'chill out' tip. Just as you've needed to chill out on a regular basis, spending too much time in the gym can have a negative effect resulting in dwindling returns. Enjoy your workout instead of punishing yourself.

9. You're not doing the full reps

Half reps are going to take you only half the way. Adapt to performing the complete range of incentives for every exercise.

10. You're not following an order

There's an order that you should keep with your front raises, calf raises, lateral rises, and curls. Start with compound workouts like deadlifts, bench presses, cleans and squats when you're fresh and full of beans.

Diet and Exercise Rehab: Three Steps to Successful Behavior Change

Another year, and yet another wellness challenge. Will this year be any different from the last? What would it take to get to, and keep, a healthy weight? What do you now know that you did not know before? Keep in mind, that knowledge does not equal change. While changing behavior can be done, it requires substantive thought and effort. Wanting to change is not enough, needing to change is not enough, nor is having the knowledge of how to change.

To successfully change a deep-rooted habit, and create a new output here are “Three Steps to Successful Behavior Change,” you must:

  1. Want, need, and successfully attach that output to something that is deeply important to you. (ie, a health scare, needing more energy for your family, winning a challenge at work)
  2. Assess your habits, discover your triggers, and vulnerabilities, and have a solid plan to offset them. (ie, lazy downtime after work, late night munchies, eating out, birthday parties, the break room at work, stopping at the convenience store for snacks, using the drive through, mindless eating)
  3. Alter your environment to facilitate those changes and have a system of accountability to keep you on track. (ie pack a healthy lunch and nutritious snacks in your “user friendly” lunch bag, with water jug, pre-plan weekly meals and have ingredients on hand, de-junk your pantry, drawers at work and other places with unhealthy options, replace junk with healthy food convenience, cut up fruits and veggies when you get home and put into individual baggies, for ease of grabbing on the go, use free tracking tools to easily track your food and exercise, find an exercise partner, manually log your steps / miles / calories)

Those who repeated fail at their efforts to make changes usually are missing one or more of the above steps. Many people start off with a bang and end up with a whimper, because they try to make unrealistic changes without altering their environment to support those changes. Wherever you are in your health and weight loss efforts, you have created an environment that supports the behaviors that got you there. Without targeting that, your chances of long-term success are slim; pardon the pun.

Think about a drug addict, just out of rehab. Once they are put back in their old environment, with all the same temptations that caused them to “use,” people they “used” with, and situations that made “using” possible, they often relapse. While their mindset has changed, their environment has not enough changed to support that new mindset.

Yo-yo dieters face the same struggle as other addicts, except you must eat to live, which further complicates the recovery process. Being overweight signals that at some point, you have had an unhealthy relationship with food and / or activity. You have “used” food for purposes other than nutrition. (ie, comfort, boredom, stress, anxiety, celebrity). You also have a relationship with activity that is either not enough to offset your intake, is too sporadic, or is non-existent. These “basic life support habits” run deep and are difficult to change. They require a diet and exercise rehab!

Successful rehabbers know that they must shake up old habits in order to support the new lifestyle they want to have. This means identifying some key factors: (Take out a blank sheet of paper and write your answers to these important questions).

  1. Why do I need to make these changes? How will I be accountable and to whom?
  2. What are the consequences of staying the same? How will not changing harm me?
  3. When I am most vulnerable to use my substance / behavior of choice? What could I do to avoid, alter, or repurpose this period of time?
  4. What situations trigger undesired behavior? What is my plan to act in a new way, when put in those situations?
  5. Who enables me to do what I am trying NOT to do? How will I separate myself from them?
  6. Who supports my efforts to live better? How can I spend more time with them?
  7. What am I willing to do to create a different lifestyle? How do I plan to support these lifestyle changes?
  8. What behaviors do I need to ADD to my life? How and when will I do them?
  9. What behaviors do I need to SUBTRACT from my life? How do I plan to avoid or reduce them?
  10. What are the largest hurdles I face in following through with making changes? How do I plan to overcome them?

Answering these questions is only the start; it creates your Wellness Blueprint. The next step is to put your blueprint into action. By following the “Three Steps to Successful Behavior Change,” you can successfully develop the healthy lifestyle that has eluded you in previous attempts.

They say CHANCE favors the prepared mind; well then, CHANGE favors prepared actions. The more you can do to plan for and prepare ahead of time to make your new lifestyle convenient to execute, the more success you will find. This year improve your chance to change by preparing the way for achievement.

In fact on a daily walk in the morning one can catch a glimpse of seniors and some youngsters laughing away their problems. This does work wonders. If this does not strike your fancy, sometimes a dose of comedies in the theater or on television can get you chuckling and shedding the stress.

When one is left to deal with heartache stress takes root here too. In fact because of heartache psoriasis can flare up (as detailed by professionals in the medical field). Talking to a member of the family or a close friend can ease the burden and lighten the situation. But when the going gets tough one must seek the assistance of a counselor.

Meditation has been advocated in many pockets of the globe. This phenomenon is fast catching on and can definitely work wonders. Exercising or walking can bring back a rosy glow. For psoriasis sufferers who experience discomfort using public gyms, walking is a great stress buster and exercise platform. Communing with God can balance the rhythm and help one get his or her groove back. It sure does work. Stress is totally done away with and the body gets back on track.

How We Breathe and Its Importance

Our breath is essential to the body as well as to the practice of meditation. Deep breathing is necessary to heal and purify our energy. Breath is taken for granted and breathing exercises are rarely part of one's daily routine. This article will focus on the importance of the breath as well as the basic concepts of prana / apana and sukha / dukha.

The benefits of a quality breath are: the development of concentration; positive thoughts; release of toxins; source of oxygen; and sustenance of life. Breathing develops concentration by relaxing the body and calming the mind. It creates positive thoughts as the breath is used to assist in dispelling negative thoughts, causing a tranquilizing effect on the body. During exhalation, toxins such as carbon dioxide, are expelled. Breathing takes in oxygen that is critical for the brain. The breath sustains human life through its respiratory activities as well as assisting other bodily functions such as aerating the blood and assisting the liver in the regulation of starches.

How does proper breathing affect our anatomy? Our lungs are three dimensional and located in the thoracic (chest) cavity. Lungs have three areas: upper, middle and lower. The thoracic cavity changes in shape and volume. For us to breathe, the thoracic (chest) cavity needs assistance from the abdominal cavity in changing its shape. The condition of the abdominal cavity influences the quality of our breath, which has a powerful effect on the health of our abdominal organs. The diaphragm forms the roof of the abdominal cavity and the floor of the thoracic (chest) cavity, which is the single muscle that is capable of producing movement between the two cavities. The diaphragm plays an important role determining the quality of the breath, which engages all three areas of the lung.

What is breath? Leslie Kaminoff, author of Yoga Anatomy, defines breathing as the process of taking air into and expelling it from the lungs and its effects on the thoracic and abdominal cavities. Inhalation is the process of taking air into our lungs, which increases the volume and shape of the thoracic (chest) cavity from top to bottom from side to side and from front to back. During inhalation, air pushes downward on the abdominal cavity, which changes its shape. Expulsion of air, exhalation, pushes upward into the thoracic cavity. Exhalation can be either passive or active. The more active the exhalation the more the pressure the thoracic cavity will experience. There are two types of breaths, chest or belly breath. Chest breathing engines only the top lobes of the lungs, so less oxygen transfers to the lungs. Belly breathing is during intervention the diaphragm is contracted, it is forced downward, causing the stomach to expand. The pressure forces air into the lungs, engaging lower, middle and upper lobes.

The basic concepts to examine for essentials of life and meditation are prana / apana and sukha / dukha. Prana means bringing nourishment or is the “life of breath.” Prana is the intervention of air into the lungs where it exchanges gases with the capillaries and nourishes the cell wall. The breath or air travels down into the abdomen. Apana means elimination or is “the elimination force of the body.” To exhale the body needs to move upward to eliminate the air. Sukha means joy, pleasant or positive space and dukha means unpleasant, suffering or negative space. Prana and apana need a healthy relationship so there may be sukha, not dukha. Meditation is a technique where one can seek sukha and the breath plays a prevalent role. The breath is used in all styles of meditation, so engaging in breathing exercises is a habit that will strengthen your health, well being and any type of meditation practice. The following article will focus on common breathing exercises to enable one to practice belly breathing.

The Day I Quit Drinking Coffee: Six Lessons Learned About Stuff Before Traveling Around The World

I love coffee. Who does not! The aroma, the hot steaming brew in the morning! I wake up each morning with anticipation for a fresh new brew. With the choices we have here in America … I could choose Sumatra, Java, Arabica, Colombia … any beans from anywhere! It's like bringing the world to my early morning cup. Coffee has been in my life for decades.

While packing things into boxes one day I had a revelation … a desire to change things and not be bound by a thing, a drink, a food group or a particular behavior. There is not a need to be addicted to anything. What if, while traveling I could not find the perfect brew? Did not I choose this lifestyle for the sake of being free to see, explore and teach my teens about the world? What are the essentials?

On January 1st, I went coffee-free, sugar-free and gluten-free … vegetarian diet for 31 days. Denying my flesh from all those foods that I love. It was hell from the get-go. The first two days my head was throbbing and my whole body was unable to function like normal days. I was tired, had nausea and the headache was intense. Instead of going for ibuprofen when the headache stuck hard, I went for aromatherapy and my superfruit drink called NingXia Red.

For one and half years I've been studying and applying what I learned about natural pathways to health and about value of stuff that I have around the house.

Here are 6 lessons learned since quitting coffee and packing things to travel around the world:

One: Nothing Should Own Me

“I must have coffee everyday” sounds like bondage to me or “I must have 10 dresses, six pairs of shoes, five pairs of jeans and pants, 15 shirts to travel” looks like there is no other way to travel but to bring almost my whole closet.

Packing for 18 months travel with many road trips, trains and plane rides require lots of creativity with our wardrobe and health supplies. I'm setting priorities and putting basic necessities into my luggage.

Two: Health Reign Supreme

I could have been the most well dressed person in my home that day and was served with the best meal when I was suffering from coffee-withdrawal, but it did not matter. I was sick and unable to enjoy.

Mahatma Gandhi said it is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver. For gold and silver may not be able to buy health back. I saw it when my father passed away.

Three: Invest in Health Not Stuff

Growing up in Malaysia I saw people who would rather go hungry and ate ramen noodles because buying a name brand handbag was more important than eating a healthy meal. I was one of those people.

These days we buy stuff and more stuff without thinking and when it comes to health foods, nutritional supplements or eating clean we contemplate and may talk ourselves out of it in the expense of building a healthy body (which includes mind and spirit). I had that mentality once.

My stuff gets new homes, found their fate in the dumpster or being packaged for storage now as we empty the condo. Three quarters are gone that leaves me playing this song I created, “Why did I buy that?” (To Beatles “Can not Buy Me Love”)

Four: Count Your Blessings or Things

I used to collect bells from around the world until one day they became a chore to clean and pack. So I stopped. I also collected new and old books and CDs. Some were read or listened to and others are still on the shelf. Interestingly, technology has changed all that. I purchase books and music and download them in a portable device. A few of those books are over 80 years old. They are worthy of being collectibles.

Yet again, some found new homes, dumpster or storage. I can not bring the bells with me when I travel. I can bring the memories of those trips the bells represent.

Five: Give a Gift of Experience Instead of Stuff

Every birthday and Christmas, we shaved the kids with toys and more toys. We had a huge basement filled with toys while the kids were growing up in New York. They are teens now. Their toys are either given or thrown away. The memory of playing with toys lingered.

Today weave away one last item, a complete set of wooden Thomas the Tank trains and bench. I was completely overwhelmed by emotions when I saw that train set depart from our home. We had to part with stuff.

At this age they no longer need more toys or entertainment. We learned the importance of an experience that is educational, fun, socially responsible … and adventurous, cultural, food related that includes history, geography, and culture and language experiences. We found all these 'goodies' in traveling.

Six: No More Headaches but There Are Challenges

After two full days the head was gone. I'm coffee-free and no longer depend on coffee to make my day. I will go back to coffee but not everyday. I had fast recovery because of two things: high quality wholefoods nutritional supplements and aromatherapy using the therapeutic grade essential oils. I oiled myself with Peppermint, Lavender, Purification and Peace and Calming.

Travel can take its toll on our health if we are not careful. Setbacks like health challenges, temptations to eat certain foods or drink some forbidden drinks may happen.

Our preparation includes strengthening our mind and body before leaving. We are sacrificing certain food groups and drinks to stay in tune with our body and be aware of what will make us feel better physically. We are embracing a minimalist lifestyle to stay focus and contented. Our stuff, they are just stuff … going to storage and may face the dumpster once again … one day … when I can completely get over with stuff.

It's time to be proactive and work out a plan that works. Here are seven tips for a healthy mind and body before taking a trip:

Be sugar free
No fast food
Healthy snacks
Exercise
Stay relaxed with aromatherapy
Occasional caffeine and sugared water
Homemade and clean food most of the time

Come travel along with us, leave your name and email and get updates in your inbox once a week and sometimes only twice a month depending on our travel schedule. We leave February 25 for Santiago, Chile.

How Is Karma Working For You?

What is Karma? My understanding was that if I was not good, something called karma would strike me after death. If I did something bad enough, I may even come back next lifetime as a cockroach or be born with serious birth affects. One day I came across a more encompassing definition like the one from Wikipedia (below that describes Karma simply as an action or deed that causes a cycle of cause and effect). In life's experience, one can see the principle of cause and effect acted out in various manners within our average day. What we place attention on from the moment we wake to the time we sleep plays a role in how our day will blossom. We may begin our day angry and before we know it, we get stuck in traffic, we miss our first appointment and now the rest of the day is a hellish debate over spilled milk or a crooked deck. When we are stressed and the sense of wanting to escape our situation is present, we can use the principle of cause and effect to help us figure out what previous actions we had taken might be relevant to winding up where we have found ourselves. It does require that you do take a look.

Karma (Sanskrit) in Indian religions is the concept of “action” or “deed”, understood as that which causes the entire cycle of cause and effect, originating in ancient India and treated in the Hindu, Jain, Buddhist and Sikh religions

The idea that Karma is something that is both beyond our control and is also connected to our entire life dramas is a little impriminating. The idea that 'cause and effect' becomes the mirror we can use to unlock a cycle is empowering. We must only see how we can be present with the strength of a concept (group of ideas) and in applying it with just a few other universal principals. These principles are the Universal Laws of Polarity, Vibration and Rhythm. These and other Laws will help us formulate a different context to any situation we could possibly imagine having to do with cause and effect and Karma. The Law of Polarity simply gives us options in knowing that all things have their polar opposites and extremes of the same thing. The Law of Rhythm helps us to understand the power that alchemy has played and can play (either way) in essentially defragging your bio-computer. The Law of Vibration shows us that all of our thoughts are THINGS, that we are only aware of the thought or idea that is vibrating at the time and that there are scales that measure radiance within all forms including spirit and matter. Further, many can only concentrate on ONE thought at a time (usually containing less than 150 bits of information). While some contemporaries believe in that number under 150 bits limitation, I challenge it, as a formulation of ideas becoming a concept and with a more potent concentration, synthesizes the awareness of the data across a larger number of cells. Ultimately we are growing our antennas for clearer reception of incoming knowledge and impressions from the spirit.

Here is the 'Beauty in the Beast' part of understanding Karma more comprehensively. If your belief about Karma is limited to an understanding of Karma as “This lifetime is a 'sentence' placed upon me for acts of a previous lifetime”, there are courses, counseling, coaching and consulting resources you can enroll in immediately that can help you out of prison (so to speak). I suggest and help clients to discover lifestyle changes, programs and resources to 'Make Their Break'! If this is the Idea you have of Karma, that you are somehow 'sentenced', you ARE a “VICTIM”, GET HELP immediately! (Be careful though, most prisoners will be hesitant to leave their friends behind). If you are of the Belief that Karma is within the spectrum of 'everyday life' and because although encrypted by spiritual and / or physical genetic factors, YOU ARE one of the Lucky Ones that have the dance of life. You enjoy what some call 'normal' brain activity. You have the ability to use your reasoning capacity (or LEARNED how) to access by logic or reflection the host of experiences and / or behaviors you recognize will empower you to make different choices NOW! Today!

If you are one who 'KNOWs there are NO Victims', though are stressed by life, either not living up to your potential or have any kind of health related, career or relationship problem or concern … I saw a quote on Facebook the other day that said “Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.” -Confucius, followed by another that said “” To be ignorant of one's ignorance is the malady of the ignorant “(I finally found the way to explain how one can not afford to discount Self Improvement, Self Development, Self Education or YES” Self HELP “) Whomever the teachers or leaders of today are for you, they are the 'Master of Masters' use them wisely, learn and keep growing. ve come here for '.

Are “Frankenstein” or Genetically Modified Foods Destroying Our Integrity?

Dinner with a Touch of Reality

I recently enjoyed dinner with my dear friend, Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy, an integrated medical doctor, and her very talented attorney husband. They are such a power couple-in my world they are bigger stars than Brad and Angelina. I always learn so much from Dr. Connealy and that evening, although the topic was a little more somber than usual, was no different.

Sixteen Year Old Hit by Car

I had heard that a hit and run driver injured the son of one of her friends. The young man had broken every bone in his body and was left to die. I'm shocked that this was the third time in two months that I heard about a person being hit by a car and the driver did not stop. It's bad enough to hit someone, but to not stop is inexcusable. And what about the mass shootings that have occurred recently? What's wrong with people? Is it their brains? Their soul? Or maybe it's Frankenstein foods? Maybe we are so UNDER nourished that we have lost our senses!

Foods You Eat Influence Behavior

I know it may sound like a scene from the Twilight Zone, but food does have a physical and mental effect on our behavior and influences how we act. For example, processed food is only “filler” food, not nutritional food. Just think about you're tired and hungry- maybe a little cranky-you have a snack and feel revived. If it's the wrong snack, like a candy bar, you may feel better for a bit then “crash” feeling worse than before. Studies have shown that the behavior of mice fed junk food and / or genetically modified foods changed radically. Traditional as well as classroom research has reported these behavior changes. Mice fed junk food became lethargic, antisocial and nervous. Mice fed food “Frankenstein food” with GMO's, stopped playing with each other and withdrew to their own areas of the cage. Unlike their chemically overloaded neighbors, mice fed junk / GMO free diets were well-behaved and friendlier. One mouse in a GMO group was even found dead. This sounds too similar to what is going on in our world today (Much more on this to come!)

Mice are NOT Men

Those in favor of GMO's may make the argument that these studies deal with mice, not humans. That's true, but most studies begin with mice before going to human trials. The only problem with using humans in these same experiences is that the mice behaviors were extremely anti-social and dangerous. Who would willingly want to put themselves through that you ask? Unfortunately, people are most likely influencing their behavior every day by what they eat. Seventy percent or more of processed foods contain GMO products!

Natural Does NOT Equal GMO Free

Even so-called healthy choices have been found to have GMO ingredients . Something labeled “natural” does not mean it's “organic” and may even contain GMO ingredients. So you may think you're eating something good, but you're really not. And that makes me so crazy! How can we be our own warriors and make informed decisions if we do not know what we are buying and / or eating?

Read Labels Carefully

The best way to try to avoid GMO's is to buy organic . A good organic source will also state that it is GMO FREE, otherwise, who knows what GMO food is snuck in by intentionally or by cross contamination? If you do buy packaged foods, check the label. Although you will not find “Warning: This product contains GMO's”, you can look for the most likely genetically engineered products like soy and corn. UGGH, please stay away from these foods. They are poison!

Healthy Begins in the Gut!

As the New Year begins I am thankful that I learned about the dangers of processed foods and the benefits of fermented, probiotic foods. CJ's autism was the catalyst that helped my family improve their health. We started healing his gut with fermented foods and we all benefited from having a balanced gut. I hope that others will realize that the dangers of GMO's and processed foods out weigh the convenience. My heart goes out to all the family's dealing with the physical and emotional healing that comes with the loss of a loved one. My hope for the New Year and years to come is that GMO / Frankenstein foods will not destroy the integrity that makes humans different from mice.
